Reference no.: 2318The Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna is seeking to fill a Senior Scientist position (m/f/d) in Medieval History and Historical Auxiliary Sciences.Among the many reasons to research and teach at the University of Vienna there is one in particular, which has convinced around 7,500 academic staff members so far. Welcome to our team!Your personal sphere of play:The position requires advanced academic qualifications (doctorate in the field of medieval history and, if possible, several years of post-doctoral research experience), excellent expertise in Latin Philology and relevant experience with medieval edition projects. The Senior Scientist position is based at the Institute of Austrian Historical Research and first of all involves independent work on the long-term project " ". The project will be carried out in co-operation with the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome. Furthermore, the Senior Scientist will also be responsible for coordinating the edition project from Vienna and positioning it within the international scientific community. The position is to be filled from 01.09.2024 and is limited until 31.08.2027 with an option to extend the term.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:In addition, the tasks will include participation in research and teaching in the field of Medieval History and Historical Auxiliary Sciences; offering classes autonomously to the extent of the collective agreement provisions within the framework of the BA, LA and MA programmes in History at the University of Vienna, in particular the MA "Auxiliary Sciences of History and Archival Studies". Participation in university self-administration. Participation in the Faculty's key research area "Text and Edition - Editorial Methods" and willingness to collaborate in the editorial team of the "Mitteilungen des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung" and the accompanying publication series are expected.This is part of your personality:Research specialisation in the field of History of the High Middle Ages and Historical Auxiliary Sciences. Several years of relevant teaching experience are required.
