The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop in a company committed to developing talent and rewarding performance.Role PurposeThe Pre-Construction CSA Manager is a senior level appointment reporting to ] the Pre-Construction Director in Kirby who will lead and develop the departmental CSA capability and performance. They will oversee and coordinate the various internal CSA Pre-Construction teams and internal stakeholders. Ensure professional stewardship and governance of all CSA activities (including international CSA regulations) and provide a CSA service across the group as well as delivering expert internal CSA consultancy. The development of this capability is a key strategic objective of the group.Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Leads and mentors CSA teams across the department.
  • Provides senior leadership through collaboration with client, architects, engineers, supply chain and other interested parties in the initial planning stage up to operational commencement.
  • Develops leading edge departmental CSA team/processes.
  • Compare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all products/services are included in the final price delivered to the stakeholders.
  • Supporting Civil QS/Estimating team in analysis of subcontract packages.
  • Guides and advises the team on the selection of supply chain partners and subcontractors.
  • Be the go-to trusted advisor.
  • Influence the design concept and identifying gap analysis and potential opportunities with our Engineering team and Tendering team, liaising with external design consultants if applicable.
  • Collaborate with the T&D estimating managers to ensure all aspects of the proposal is accounted for.
  • Developing Technical queries with our external clients as part of the tendering process.
  • Liaising with Business unit Leadership at tender stage & post tender.
  • Overseeing the production of the programme schedule to ensure all aspects of the client required milestones are met and bettered.
  • Oversee and liaise with the operations team to build up the prelim requirement per project.
  • Oversee and contribute to our non- commercial requirements of our bids such as the construction methodology.
  • Developing Risk Register in conjunction with Estimating team/Operations & supporting the Tender Commercial closures at tender adjudication
  • Attending Client mid tender & post tender meetings as required.
  • Collaboratively working with the CSA Pre-Con team in developing designs from the various estimate stages and if successful liaising with Construction Design Engineering team & Operations team to support the project to allow the successful appointment of civils subcontractor.
  • Developing & controlling the feedback loop from live projects back into the estimating department for similar projects (applying lessons-learned principals)
  • Developing collaboration & alignment with supply chain sub-subcontractor external consultants and our end clients
  • Delivers CSA performance analysis.
  • Uses Digital Construction resources to create value and support efficient CSA project delivery.
  • Ensures alignment with the Commercial Objectives of the tender(s) and oversees the Departmental CSA Function budget and when unexpected complications or issues arise, makes quick and necessary adjustments.
  • Leads as required CSA negotiations, revisions, and additions and adherence by all parties.
  • Collaborates at a senior level with clients, authorities/regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with clients and senior professionals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or equivalent required.
  • At least 10 years of engineering/construction leadership experience required.
Other Requirements:
  • Will require travel.
  • Must be available as a Senior Leader to deal with project complexities as and when they emerge 24/7.
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Understands the complexity of scheduling, programming, and sequencing.
  • Preferable experience of working in the Power utilities sector.
