The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.About the RoleStrathfield Council has a fantastic opportunity for a Trades Assistant – Building Maintenance to join our Building Facilities Team on a permanent, full-time basis.The Trades Assistant – Building Maintenance position is responsible for assisting the Building Facilities Team in implementing the approved capital works and maintenance programs for Council's buildings and facilities in an efficient and effective manner.For more information about the duties and responsibilities for the role, please refer to the Position Description attached below.About YouThe successful candidate will have the following:
  • Extensive experience of 8 years or more in the application of acquired trade skills.
  • A current White Card Certificate (General Construction Induction Card)
  • A current WWCC (Working With Children Check)
  • Hold a valid NSW Driver Licence (Class C minimum)
  • Hold a trade licenced qualification related to the work performed (Desirable)
  • Hold TAFE or other industry qualification relevant to the position.
  • Basic organisational and planning skills together with the ability to prioritise work to meet the demands of the position within competing timeframes.
  • Effective oral interpersonal communications skills including demonstrated ability in managing conflict and dealing with difficult customers.
  • Basic computing skills with Microsoft Office.
