Ongoing adaptation is necessary, and our people are encouraged to share and develop innovative solutions and fresh ideas.In short, we make a positive different to the lives of South Australians and the communities they live in every day.About the roleAs the Odour Response Officer you will need to possess both the technical problem-solving capabilities as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with customers. As you will be providing a comprehensive, efficient and accurate technical investigations service, operational expertise and support to all stakeholders associated with wastewater infrastructure and odour. You will be joining a supportive and experienced trade waste team.In addition, your responsibilities will include:
  • Exceed customer expectations by providing an outstanding level of case management with odour customer complaints.
  • Develop and assist with odour preventative maintenance plans and repairs to minimise impact on customers.
  • Use complex array of odour analysers and other instruments to inform reliable solutions that aim to address odour issues.
  • Report all incidents and hazards into SAAM and ensure investigations and close outs are performed in a timely manner.
  • Use available data from instruments, pump stations, level sensors, etc to thoroughly evaluate suspected origins of odour prior to prescribing solutions.
  • Capture and report investigations routinely to stakeholders.
  • Being part of an on-call roster.
  • Holding a current valid driver's licence at all times.
About the personAs someone who is experienced with dealing with sensitive issues and offering good communication and resolutions through out the task will see you exceed in this role. A background in plumbing or chemist with H2S generation experience will be highly regarded as this role is deals with sewer ventilation and evade odours investigation and expertise.Your success in this role will come from:
  • Strong ability to investigate, evaluate and close out infrastructure issues
  • High level of competency in Excel, Waterscope and SCADA and ability to learn and adapt to new applications
  • Tertiary Technical Qualifications (Science/Engineering) or equivalent industry experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in administration of appropriate Acts, Regulations and Standards
  • Ability to influence and impart knowledge to others including trade waste team members, key account managers and customers
  • Proven ability in customer service and dispute resolution.
