Offer DescriptionUniversity of Coimbra opens a call for one research fellowship, in the framework of the project "Desenvolvimento de novas abordagens e aplicações de microscopia de fluxo em investigação biomédica" (Reference: UCMicroscop_FM_24) , financed by own revenuesin the following conditions:Scientific area: Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Research or Biomedical Sciences..Skills/Qualifications/Admission requirements: Masters in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Research or Biomedical Sciences.Recipients of the grant must be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to the award of an academic degree or in a course not leading to an academic degree, and proof of enrolment must be provided by the time the grant is contracted..“Courses not conferring an academic degree” must be related to the research fellowship'sactivity type.“Courses not conferring an academic degree” are the courses referred to in paragraph e) ofnumber 3 of article 4 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006, of 24 March, in the current wording, providedthat they are developed in association or cooperation between the higher education institutionand one or more R&D units, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph e) of article 3 ofthe Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).Although the recipients must be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to the attribution of anacademic degree or in a course not leading to an academic degree, at the time of applicationit is not necessary for the candidate to have made such an enrollment, and proof of enrollmentmust be presented until the fellowship is contractualized. Candidates are only required to meetthe requirements to enroll in the training offer. If there are candidates already enrolled(including attending a course), they compete on an equal footing with those who are notenrolled.According to the RBI in paragraph 5 of article 6, it only admits BI attributions to graduates andmasters enrolled in cycles of study that do not confer an academic degree who have notexceeded two years to be fulfilled in different scholarship contracts.Work plan/Objectives: The selected candidate will receive complementary technical-scientific training to carry out R&D activities, supporting the technological development of research support platforms, namely in the implementation of the work plan for the project "Development of new approaches and applications of optical microscopy in biomedical research", participating and collaborating in the following tasks:i) development of new optical microscopy approaches;ii) preparing and visualizing biological samples using optical microscopy at the iLAB of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbraiii) providing all technical and scientific assistance requested by research groups wishing to use the equipment for their studies;iv) training new users of the laboratory;v) ensuring the maintenance and regular operation of the iLAB and its equipment, guaranteeing the provision of a highly differentiated and quality microscopy service;vi) managing the use of optical microscopes (confocal and fluorescence);vii) training and support in the use of image analysis software;viii) collaboration in scientific dissemination courses/workshops related to microscopy research methodologies and techniques...Regime: The attribution of the fellowship does not generate or entitle a relation of a legal-labour nature, and the fellowship is undertaken in an exclusive dedication regime. The fellowship holder is awarded the Fellowship Statute of the UC, in its current wording, according to the Research Fellowship Holder Statute , and according to the Regulation for Research Fellowships of the Foundation for Science and Technology, both in their current wording.Location: Faculty of Medicine at the University of Coimbra.Duration: 12 months.Renewal: Eventually Renewable.Scientific orientation: Henrique Manuel Paixão dos Santos Girão.Financial conditions: The amount of the fellowship is € 1259,64 corresponding to the monthly compensation stipulated in the FCT table ( ), plus personal accidents insurance. The payment will be made by bank transfer. This document is mandatory only in the contractualization phase.Applications submission: Applications must be submitted through IT137-24-198 .Submission of applications: Between 30/04/2024 and 14/05/2024.Submission deadline date: 14/05/2024.Additional information: The evaluation results will be announced within 90 working days after the end of the applications submission deadline, by notifying the applicants via email. After the announcement of the results, candidates are considered automatically notified to, if they wish to do so, comment on the results on a preliminary hearing period within 10 days after that date. After this, the selected candidates will have to declare in writing their acceptance. Unless a justification worthy of consideration is presented, if the declaration is not submitted within the referred period, it is considered that the candidate waivers the fellowship.
