- To work with the COLP on general regulatory and compliance related issues, with the opportunity to lead on matters where appropriate. This includes general queries, legal advice, updating policies, procedures and collaborating on firm-wide projects.
- To work closely with the R&C team on advice and issues around conflicts of interest.
- To work with the COLP and other team members on regulatory matters, including certain reviews and general best practice.
- To take a proactive mindset towards the ever-changing regulatory landscape, assessing the impact of changes against existing Firm's processes and enacting amendments/changes as and when required.
- Preparing and delivering regulatory training within the Department and where applicable across the Firm, to promote the compliance with our risk management ethos.
- To support the other team members with their ongoing learning and professional development
- To act as a role model for more junior team members across the wider R&C team - to be able to act as a mentor, deliver training and provide additional support on ad-hoc projects as and when needed.
- Qualified lawyer, or equivalent foreign qualification is valuable but not essential. Other qualifications and relevant experience will be considered.
- Compliance experience is essential, particularly if gained within a Risk and Compliance team in a UK law firm, financial institution or regulator.
- Experience using Intapp and knowledge of conflicts of interest or financial crime is highly desirable.
- We welcome applications from fee earners with regulatory experience who are considering a transition to a Risk and Compliance team, as well as those who are currently working in this field.
- Proven experience of managing key processes and procedures is desirable.
- Experience of leading others and delivering training is desirable.
- Project management skills are desirable, but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to present themselves in a commercial and confident manner to a range of stakeholders and colleagues.
- The highest standards of legal rigour, delivered with care in a professional and pleasant manner.
- An inquisitive mind, with an eagerness to understand our business and spot trends and issues before they occur.
- Excellent drafting skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and prioritising skills, in order to meet the demands of challenging and commercial internal clients, as well as dealing with competing priorities.
- Efficient and responsive with an ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage own diverse workload.
- Proactive, resilient and calm under pressure.
- Takes responsibility for and attends to self-development.
- Flexible and agile approach to the workload, with the ability to work in close collaboration with the General Counsel and other members of the team.
