- Conduct innovative research on silicon- and silicon carbide-based radiation sensors
- Interact with internal and external collaboration partners to understand the requirements on the devices to be developed
- Understand, design and simulate the detector structures
- Prepare the device and wafer layout for microfabrication
- Understand and design the microfabrication process
- Prepare and perform electrical and electro-optical detector characterization as well as advanced functional characterization for specific use cases (e.g. ToF-PET, timing, electromagnetic and ionizing radiation spectrometry/spectroscopy)
- Contribute to the CRS unit’s dissemination activities
- Contribute to the CRS unit’s networking activities
- Contribute to the CRS unit’s self-funding, through the writing of project proposals or starting/managing collaborations with industry
- Interact daily with the research team to interpret the operative needs and requirements
- Report regularly on projects/activities status
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with the Unit’s Head and other project members, providing assistance and technical support
- Review research deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Master’s degree in electronics engineering, physics, material science or related fields (the degrees must be obtained by the start date of the FBK contract);
- Strong attitude to research activity and innovation
- Strong teamwork attitude
- Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written)
- Enthusiastic attitude to research activity
- Ph.D. in electronics engineering, physics, material science or related fields
- Solid background in semiconductor detectors
- Good scientific background
- Significant number of published scientific papers in relevant fields
- Experience in simulation tools for devices and processes
- Knowledge of scintillator-based radiation detectors
- Knowledge of silicon processing technology
- Experience in electro-optical measurements laboratory setups
- Experience in the design and processing of silicon carbide detectors
- Scientific publications relevant to the field of SPAD/SiPM detectors
- Scientific publications relevant to the field of LGAD detectors
- Scientific publications relevant to the field of SDD detectors
- Scientific publications relevant to the field of planar (strip, pixel) detectors
- Scientific publications relevant to the field of 3D detectors
- Visiting scholarship or experience at international level.
