- Meets or exceed activity targets (discovery calls, face to face meetings, submitted proposals, successful solicitations) for fundraising specific to planned giving and major gifts as mutually agreed upon with Leader;
- Implement current marketing strategies and activities for STARS planned giving program; while assisting in the creation and development of new marketing initiatives in collaboration with planned giving, marketing and communications team members;
- Establish and maintain professional, productive relationships with donors and potential giving donors;
- Advance planned giving programming through presentations, meetings and other communication with donors, prospects, and allied professionals;
- Provide timely, thoughtful, and professional responses to all planned giving inquiries received by phone, mail, and email, along with responses from donor surveys, appeals and legacy campaigns. Develop a follow-up plan and implement relationship management strategies for prospects and donors;
- Estate administration; working closely with STARS CFO and other executive, along with legal and/or personal representatives (executors) responsible for fulfilling donors’ estate plans and wishes; as well as stewardship of deceased donors’ family members when applicable;
- Review estate gift notices and enter information in database, review open estate files to determine status and follow-up required with personal representatives and solicitors;
- Maintaining and using a basic knowledge of gift planning strategies and vehicles, along with an understanding of tax and trust laws applicable to basic estate planning fundamentals;
- Maintain stewardship of all Saskatchewan and Manitoba Legacy prospects with assistance from planned giving and stewardship team members;
- Participate in planned giving budget process through forecasting of known/expected legacy gift revenue;
- Effectively use STARS database to maintain accurate, professional, and current planned giving records, actions, and reports;
- Participate actively as a member an integrated development team remaining informed of donor relations and development best practices;
- Travel within Saskatchewan and Manitoba;
- Other duties as required.
- Adhere to high ethical standards in fundraising;
- Ability to cope well with stress and meet deadlines;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build excellent working relationships with donors, allied professionals and fellow team members;
- Experience in the development of planned giving initiatives;
- A successful track record in revenue growth within previous fundraising portfolios;
- An aptitude for implementing a variety of fundraising strategies the would positively influence the success of the planned giving program;
- Superior oral and written communication skills coupled with good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters;
- Self-motivated, energetic and flexible and adaptable work style;
- Good sense of humor;
- Four to five years’ experience in Major Gift Fundraising with individuals; specific experience with planned giving fundraising would be an asset;
- Experience and proven ability to provide exceptional donor stewardship;
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and exceptional administrative skills;
- Strong computer skills and experience with Raiser’s Edge would be an asset;
- A post-secondary degree in business management, non- profit studies or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- A CFRE designation is desirable;
- A member of CAGP or AFP would be an asset.
