Position Title: Operations Director CEPosition Type: Regular - Full-Time ​Position Location: HarnesRequisition ID: 29287We are looking for our new Operations Director CE (Continental Europe) to join our Agriculture (Ag) organization at McCain. Within the CE agriculture department, you are accountable for the agriculture operation strategy, the potato supply, and the grading operations in the short, medium, and long term. You will oversee the potato scheduling, trucking, and grading activities for our 5 production facilities in Continental Europe. Thanks to a close collaboration with manufacturing, quality and supply chain, you are responsible for potato pile optimization with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and cost optimization.You will:
  • Optimize potato pile utilization based on quality, contract period and distances.
  • Lead grading stations people, cost efficiency, and build investment plans together with the Ag CAPEX & Technology director CE.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and Planning to optimize potato utilization and adapt to crop context.
  • Define and action McCain own storage strategy.
  • Lead Digital Ag and MDI (McCain Driving Impact) implementation in CE Ag operations.
You will directly manage 6 people in your team, and indirectly manage 162 people. You report to the Vice President Agriculture CE and work either in Harnes (France), Villeneuve-d’Ascq (France) or Lewedorp (Netherlands) and will frequently travel to our potato plants in France, the Netherlands and Poland.Key responsibilities:Potato Supply:
  • You lead with your team the potato pile management to optimize potato flow based on quality, contract period and location and the potato planning.
  • You coordinate the potato transfers between sites and potato sales outside McCain network. You work together with manufacturing and quality to maximize potato utilization.
  • You leverage an action plan to minimize potato downtime.
Storage Management:
  • You lead financial and operational management of own storage activities in France and Poland.
  • You define potato allocation to storage and unloading periods.
  • You implement the best storage practices in line with global objectives and recommendations.
  • You select and negotiate store loading equipment.
  • You negotiate contract terms with storage subcontractors.
People Management
  • You leverage McCain Leadership principles to lead and engage your team to drive results in line with objectives
  • You ensure people develop with a clear development plan to prepare talent for the future.
  • You communicate a clear strategy and objectives to your team.
  • You make everyone accountable for the team results.
Cost competitiveness
  • You build and monitor the grading station budget to protect cost competitiveness.
  • You track and optimize grading station performance (continuous improvement)
  • You build a CAPEX plan to drive down the cost curve of our grading operations across CE.
Qualifications :
  • You have ideally a master’s degree in agriculture and strong Agriculture & potato knowledge and of the Potato Market.
  • You have knowledge of Industrial Finished Products Processes and their impact on Potato requirements.
  • You have a strong financial acumen.
  • You combine a continuous improvement mindset to strong project management skills.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills across all levels of the organization, and strong written and spoken English skills.
  • You have a proven track record of leading and developing a big team internationally.
  • You have strong strategic decision skills and know how to navigate through a complex matrix organization.
  • You are entrepreneurial and hands-on.
