The Crown Solicitor's Office, through the Attorney-General, provides legal services to government Ministers, agencies and departments, including legal advice, representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating of commercial contracts, drafting and production of legal documents, counsel for the conduct of summary prosecutions and Magistrates' Appeals, native title claims management, land conveyancing and investigation services.Successful applicants are placed in a pool and notified as suitable vacancies arise. Successful applications for the pool are valid for a period of twelve months for appointment to temporary positions.Reporting to Solicitors and accountable to the Assistant Crown Solicitor, your main responsibility will be to provide an efficient law clerk service (subject to supervision). More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Legal research.
Preparing letters, advice, outline of argument, affidavits and other documents.
Assisting with conduct of trials and hearings.
Assisting with the establishment and maintenance of legal precedents and templates, management of documentation, use of practice management and litigation support systems and the discovery process.
Providing administrative support to solicitors as required.
