Queensland's largest and most innovative not-for-profit Catholic health care service is seeking interfaith Pastoral Care Practitioners to join our team of compassionate listeners who provide spiritual and emotional support to persons of various religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, life philosophies and faith traditions.3 Positions are available - Predominantly South Brisbane based (all positions maybe required to work from our Springfield campus depending on operational requirements) and will be offered in a casual capacity. Please note you will be required to be on call for weekends and public holidays as part of a rosterSalary: $44.04 per hour(HP LEVEL 3), plus 25% casual loading + super + nfp salary packagingWhat you will be doing
  • Making available religious or spiritual comfort and support to patients, whilst respecting individual beliefs and practices of other denominations and faiths
  • Providing awareness to patients and their families of the Pastoral Care services and accessibility
  • Supporting the Hospital Mission Integration Manager in embedding the Mater Mission and Values, and those of the Sisters of Mercy, by coordinating, assisting and/or participating in events, ceremonies and/or rituals as required
  • Collaborating with all staff in the provision of holistic care
  • Actively participating in providing adequate provision of Pastoral Care services in a facility that operates continuously over seven (7) days a week where required
  • Verbally communicating to clinical staff any acquired information relating to physical discomfort and/or care, shared by a patient or their family member
  • Assisting with the co-ordination of memorial services for deceased patients
  • Undertaking pastoral supervision to appropriately reflect on enhancing personal responses to ministry events and access continuing education for ministry
About youTo be considered suitable for this position you will:
  • Hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in a Human Services related field such as Counselling/Psychology/Interfaith/Theology
  • Attainment, progress towards or intention to study towards a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) qualification
  • Minimum 2 years' experience providing Pastoral Care support in clinical or equivalent environments
  • Flexibility to work in various wards, and locations (South Brisbane, Redlands and Springfield)
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and supervision, and have a learner mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Have a grounded spirituality based on a regular practice
  • Engaged in a faith or spiritual practice community
  • Ability to build rapport, trust, empathy, or strong relationships
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Respect and sensitivity in ministry to persons of various religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, life philosophies and faith traditions
  • Unrestricted Driver's License
  • Competent technology and computer skills
