- Maintain a welcoming attitude and guide customers through menus, make recommendations.
- Know your customers and foster professional relationships. Know what your regulars typically order.
- Maintain work areas in a neat and hygienic manner, including but not only: blenders, beverage machinery, tables, shelves, floors, tools and implements.
- Describe tasting notes of all specialty beverages articulately to customers.
- Regularly taste coffee and tea beverages to maintain quality standards.
- Demonstrate skill in basic latte art.
- Master Point of Sale and other applications.
- Maintain 100% accuracy when completing customer transactions and handling money.
- Complete checklists, ie. opening / closing / cleaning, always setting next shift up to succeed.
- Package food and doughnut orders neatly and quickly in accordance with packing guidelines.
- Learn menus and keep abreast of changes to communicate ingredients effectively to customers.
- Ensure all food and drink meet food safety and quality standards and prevent cross-contamination.
- Check product quality and maintain FIFO (first in, first out) and notify supervisor of non-conformance.
- Receive and help put away inventory items, such as paper goods, coffee, milk, etc.
- Maintain cleanliness, including, but not limited to: FOH, patio, bathrooms, table- tops, chairs, floors.
- Remove trash and recycling materials as needed and ensure proper disposal in dumpsters.
- Work with team to complete weekly/monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules of beverage related equipment.
- Strictly adhere to food safety laws and standards.
- Be timely and dependable.
- Ensure total customer satisfaction. . . no one likes get home to find we forgot the cream in their coffee.
- Communicate with your team and foster a positive work environment.
- Perform other related duties as implied or assigned.
- Food Handler Certification (MUST obtain within 90 days of start).
- Ability to follow recipes.
- Ability to work both independently and as a cooperative member of a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize and compete assigned tasks.
- Legal right to work in the United States.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods - you will be standing/walking most of your shift (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to stoop and to reach overhead at or above shoulder height.
- Possess Fine motor dexterity.
