The staff scientist to be recruited will focus on microscale biomechanics, area that is located between living and man-made materials. The position will be placed in the Microsystems Technologies group led by prof. Tomi Laurila.Your role and goalsThe staff scientist position is for an academic staff member who is a specialist in research work connected to the microscale biomechanics.The primary responsibilities of the staff scientist will include:Performing demanding research in microscale biomechanicsManaging and planning research equipment and infrastructure related to microscale biomechanics, such as cell culturing facilitiesPreparation and management of research projectsSupervision of research, including M.Sc. and doctoral thesesThe expected distribution of work among various duties is 50% research, 20% teaching, and 30% service.Your experience and ambitionsWe seek candidates that:have a doctoral degree in a relevant fieldhave demonstrated evidence of successful research work shown by a strong scientific publication recordhave research experience in microscale biomechanics, cell material interactions and related topics.are motivated in networking and research collaboration with other research groups, nationally and internationallyAdditional merits that are considered include:Previous experience with similar equipment used by the research groupInternational experience especially in US and EuropeExperience in project management or other duties at the group/department/university levelA track record of acquiring competitive fundingSalary and contract termsThe Staff Scientist position will be filled permanently.
