The role is a 12 month fixed term contract.The role is ideally based in Osborne, South Australia, but we also have offices in Adelaide CBD and embrace flexible work arrangements, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel (Maritime), you will be responsible for the provision of legal solutions to support the Maritime Business Unit to achieve its strategic objectives including delivery of its programs.Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing legal support to the Senior Legal Counsel and the business, striking the right balance between managing risk and delivering competitive customer solutions
  • Negotiating and drafting contracts in a clear, concise and effective manner and supporting Commercial and Procurement in reviewing, negotiating and documenting those contracts to ensure the business' legal interests are best protected
  • Providing legal support to property requirements including negotiating and documenting real estate transactions such as leases and licences
  • Supporting a culture of delivering the highest standards of legal, regulatory, governance and ethical compliance including security, export controls and business ethics
  • Support the Company's legal obligations and commitments including, bid/tender process and related teaming and subcontracting activities and intellectual property rights & obligations
  • Providing ad hoc legal advice to the business as required
About YOU
  • Tertiary qualification in Law and requirements enabling admission to practice in Australia
  • 5+ years post qualification experience preferably within a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Experience in corporate commercial, contract and intellectual property
  • Experience of Australian defence procurement & contracting practises would be desirable
  • Strong communication and writing skills
