AUTHORIZED INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVE(Islandwide)Job SummaryThe Authorized Insurance Representative is responsible for coordinating, quotes, and submitting insurance policies (Life, Auto, Property and Commercial) for different products in Insurance Centers or assigned branches for insurance sales. Sales oriented position requiring, a thorough knowledge of insurance products and advanced communication and sales skills. Capable of pursuing and closing sales of new and existing accounts and retaining assigned book of business. Provide in house customer service to clients as assigned and requested.Essential Responsibilities· Responsible for the sales and service of different insurance products in assigned First Bank Insurance Centers.· Coordinates quotes and submits insurance policies.· Coordinates telemarketing efforts, as assigned.· Coordinates training to branches and companies in order to increase sales.· Prepares weekly and monthly reports related to sales in every branch or Insurance Center assigned.· Participates in activities and conventions in FBIA booth.· Prepares and sends complete files for every new case (Check list, OFAC, PLC, application, customer identification, disclosures, signatures, and any other requirements).· Responsible for completing the goals assigned to every branch or insurance center within assigned region/territory.· Seeks our new clients and develops clientele, commercial and individual, to sell various types of insurance policy; interviews prospective clients to obtain financial information to determine needs and selects company that offer type of coverage and underwrite policy.· Calculates premiums and establishes payment method in accordance with standard operating procedures.· Analyzes insurance programs and suggest additions or changes to clients to address their needs; explains features, advantages and disadvantages of various policies to promote sale of insurance plans.· Inspects property; examines conditions, type of construction, and other characteristics to decide if it is a good insurance risk.· Develops marketing strategies to compete with others.· Markets new business, determines premiums, prepares and presents proposals to clients and maintains underwriting information.· Achieves objectives in annual insurance agent/producer sales plan.· Prospect for new business form existing clients and identified target groups.· Contacts prospects for the purpose of providing a quote and making sales appointments.· Surveys prospects to determine insurance needs, inspecting current insurance policies, risk management plans, property, products and records.· Participates in renewals, when appropriate, be reviewing expiration listing with service person to determine appropriate action and collection of information to prepare renewal submissions.· Attends all sales meeting as required· Promotes agency and insurance industry in the community· Follows agency Errors and Omissions (E&O) guidelines· Keeps informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending insurance carrier training meeting on new products, etc.· Participates in cross selling other insurance and bank products.Other ResponsibilitiesParticipates in other special tasks or projects as assigned by the immediate Supervisor.Independence of JudgmentExercises an intermediate degree of discretion and judgment and is related to the continuous analysis of specialized and complex subjects.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has not direct supervisory responsibilities.CompetenciesThe competencies detailed below are the behaviors to be exhibited by the incumbent while performing his/her duties as relates to our corporate values, culture and philosophy.· Customer service: manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; and responds to request for service and assistance.· Team Work: balances team and individual responsibilities and contributes to building a positive team spirit.· Ethics: treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works with integrity and ethically; and upholds organizational values.· Innovation: generates suggestions for improving work; meets challenges with resourcefulness; and develops innovative approaches and ideas.· Quality: demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.· Computer literate (Word, Excel)· Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.· Strong analytic skills.Impact of ErrorsThe impact of errors of this position could affect essential activities of administrative, operational or business nature that have a considerable economic impact as well as the stability and continuity of the corporation's vital operations.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Is exposed to external elements when visit outside customers. Must be available for travel within Puerto Rico should it become necessary. Able to work extended hours when necessary.Minimum RequirementsAssociate Degree in Business Administration and at least one (1) year of experience in the sale of insurance products. Strong analytical skills. This position requires insurance licenses (Life, Disability and Miscellaneous) approved by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico and must maintain the requirements of the position and the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico (continuing education). Available to work extended hours, when required, available to visit customers and outside agencies/vendors when required. Must have the ability to multi-task and prioritize accordingly.
