Teaching and training are important to us here in Dunedin and that is why our RMOs have a protected session every week.
Several other regular activities that House Officers can join - whether it is the regular House Officer Education sessions or the journal clubs, X-ray meetings or rounds from the various services; there is always something happening!
Depending on your interest, we have several runs available for you to work in.These include:
Medical Oncology
ENT
Gastroenterology
Ophthalmology / Neurology
Haematology
Neurosurgery
Respiratory
Cardiothoracic Surgery
Cardiology
Orthopaedics
Renal
General Surgery including Urology and Vascular
General Medicine
Psychiatry
Older Peoples Health
ED
While the above runs are available each quarter, we also have several 6 month runs available as well (O&G and Paediatrics). If your interest lies in these specialties, please indicate your preferences in your cover letter. Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at
A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
It is requirement of the Medical Council NZ that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
