About the RoleThe School of Chemistry is seeking to appoint a new staff member within the area of Physical Chemistry. This is a continuing teaching and research position, and the appointment will be at Level B or Level C.The position offers collaborative research opportunities within the University of Melbourne and will contribute to teaching in a wide range of subjects in Chemistry Majors. We are thus interested in applicants with research interests that may include any area of physical chemistry.You will be expected to develop a research program that will attract postgraduate students, and secure external research funding from national competitive research schemes and industry partners. You will have a commitment to research, supervising research students at undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels, and to teaching within the School's undergraduate and graduate programs.You will also have access to a wide range of research infrastructure platforms within the University ( ) including the Trace Analysis for Chemical, Earth and Environmental Sciences (TrACEES) platform located within the School of Chemistry, and the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics (MSPF) platform located within the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute.Your responsibilities will include:
  • PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • A track record of high-quality impactful publications in leading international journals, relative to opportunity, in the area of physical chemistry or related discipline. Alternatively, candidates with a strong record of translational research (patents, industry engagement, commercialisation of research outcomes) will also be considered.
  • Evidence of the potential to attract research funding from national competitive research bodies and other sources, including industry, relative to opportunity.
  • Ability to attract and supervise postgraduate (research higher degree) students, relative to opportunity.
