In this role you will be supporting our ESH Manager in advising and supporting the specialist functions at the sites (Allschwil and Oberwinterthur) on issues relating to environment, safety and health. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety standards and promotion of environmental protection.Your main tasks and responsibilities:
  • Assist, manage and continually improve Sulzer Chemtech's Integrated Management System to keep up with ISO 14000 and ISO 45001.
  • Using a hands-on approach, work with line management to ensure that activities related to ESH programs (training, audits, establishing safe work practices, measurements, inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments and controls) are effectively implemented.
  • Take ownership of tools to support risk assessments, safe work practices and adverse event/ near miss reporting & investigation.
  • Identify upcoming local and international ESH regulations and risk initiatives, analyze potential impacts on operations and advise Site Leadership on the acceptable means of compliance.
  • Assist in the development of new plants, facilities and processes to ensure ESH requirements and practices are integrated as part of the change; participate and engage in HAZOPS;
  • Identify needed support from outside consultants, developing scopes of work and managing contracts. This would include securing and managing the necessary third party resources to fill any gaps in competency or capacity.
  • Create and adapt Job Safety Analyses in collaboration with line managers.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Studies in the field of occupational safety, environmental protection or health protection with in-depth knowledge and an interest in topics in this area
  • Knowledge of corresponding management systems such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001 is an asset.
  • Ability to influence by example and work with all levels of the organization. Ability to communicate effectively, develop and make presentations at all levels of the organization.
  • Fluent German, good English
