Offer DescriptionThe Department of Work and Organization Studies (WOS) Antwerpen is looking for a PhD Student (maximum duration of 4 years) working on the topic: “Work & Technology: Implications for work relations.”
Following the COVID-19 period and the advent of artificial intelligence, organizations are continuously evolving the information and communication technologies (ICTs) used to perform work. These trends raise questions concerning how these new ICTs will impact work and workers. New research is sorely needed to understand the effect and consequences of new ICTs on individuals, organizations, and labour markets. This PhD will more specifically focus on how ICTs shape relations, both at work (e.g., How is leadership performed in presence of avatars? You will have a shared office at our campus in Antwerp.Eligibility criteria- You have a master's degree within the Human Sciences (e.g., business economics, business engineering, psychology, sociology);- You obtained at least two distinctions during your higher studies, one of which was in your master's degree;- We expect a candidate with a strong interest for the future of work and someone willing to go the extra mile to publish their findings in top academic journals. - Having a pro-active, conscientious, and open to experience personality, being willing to engage in cognitive effort and reflection as well a proficient mastery of English (Dutch is a plus, but not necessary) are desirable characteristics to succeed in this endeavour.
