Server platforms (Windows /Linux), Hypervisor (VMWare), database systems (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MongoDB), Intranet (TMD) Web services, file and print services, mailing services, certificate services, remote services (MS RDP, Citrix), cloud services (Microsoft Azure), Message queuing systems, in memory data structure store systems and backup and recovery services.
The server team consists of the following competence centers: Server Wincore pool, Server Application pool, Server Cloud pool, Server Infrastructure platform services, Server project pool and Server Operations.The server operations team manages our Elia group servers and storage as directed by our Server Team domain experts. This includes installations, upgrades, changes, monitoring, backup & restore and keeping servers up and running. Given the size of our group server park, we have split server operations into the following competence domains: Server Team Single Point of Contact, Server Operations Windows, Server Operations Linux, Server Operations Oracle, Server Operations Storage and Backup.Elia Server Operations Teams is looking to hire a Server Team Lead to take on the day-to-day responsibilities of our Linux /Oracle server operations.You will be responsible, with your team, for keeping operational (24*7),
4000 servers, business & core business applications, in 5 datacenters and this for 6000 users of the Elia Group.
Ensure smooth operation of Server Infrastructure and services for ELIA (Belgium) and 50HERTZ (Germany).
- Manage Server Operations Competence Center focusing on Linux Servers, OpenShift & Oracle databases.
- Develop future server platforms to drive digitization and innovation.
- Collaborate with IT architects to maintain stable, secure, and cost-efficient server platforms.
- Oversee daily management of operational teams.
- Plan and monitor operational activities to meet deadlines.
- Act as point of contact for IT Service Management and ticketing tool.
- Follow up on technical issues and incident escalations, ensuring maximum availability.
- Manage key IT projects within Elia Group.
- Represent the server team in meetings with partners, suppliers, and business stakeholders.
- Lead and manage the Server Operations (Linux) team for optimal server environment.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure maximum availability of systems.
- Be part of a standby service (24/7), working on a rotational schedule 1 week every 6 weeks, to ensure continuity of operations.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in IT-related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in IT (Linux) Server environment (min. 500 users).
- Minimum 5 years of team leadership experience.
- Strong technical expertise in Linux, Oracle, OpenShift, Networking & Security, Storage, and Virtualization
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Analytical problem-solving mindset.
- Team player mindset.
- Fluent in Dutch or French, with good spoken knowledge of the other language.
- Good command of English; German proficiency is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to Germany twice a year.
