EQC Toka Tū Ake is an Aotearoa (NZ) Crown entity that invests in natural disaster research and education as well as providing natural disaster insurance to residential property owners. Reporting to the Manager, Risk Reduction and Resilience, you will work to deliver on the Risk Reduction Strategy, Resilient Homes and Buildings Action Plan, natural hazards risk management policy and practice, and translating research and providing subject matter expertise on matters of natural hazard risk reduction.A talented Senior Advisor who role models organisational values, you will have:
  • A postgraduate (PhD, MSc, or postgraduate diploma) qualification in natural hazards, engineering, and/or earth sciences (e.g., geography, risk management, hazards management, disaster risk & resilience).
  • A minimum of five years of work experience in a relevant field, linked or related to the disciplines detailed above.
  • A strong understanding of key natural hazard risk management concepts.
  • Strong plain English writing and communication skills, that allow you to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and audiences.
  • Experience in providing sound, practical, and technical advice, and writing and synthesising strategic policy.
  • Strong relationships across the Aotearoa New Zealand engineering and natural hazard risk management sector.
