Purpose of JobThe Security Specialist will be based in Temane and will be responsible to identify and assess internal and external security risks, ensuring effective implementation, execution and management of security standards, procedures and plans. The selected incumbent for this role must understand and be able to implement GSO physical security protocols, adopt crime prevention measures and tactics, understand and improve SPT intrusion detection systems, monitor and report on SPT fleet tracking system and utilize and manage closed-circuit television (CCTV) technologies to generate reports on suspect behaviours and crime trends. The Security Specialist must review and update security procedures, report and participate in incidents investigation, screen visitors, secure entrances and conduct security inspections/checks/searches.Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure Service Provider understanding and compliance to relevant Sasol Security and SHE, codes of practices and standards;
  • Manage relevant documentation, industry and statutory registrations to ensure sustainable operations;
  • Comply and implement Security and SHE standards, code of practices and international best practices;
  • Manage performance of Sasol Security Service Provider Personnel to ensure compliance with agreed KPI targets, Service Level Commitments and Customer expectations;
  • Provide leadership and management to the Security Service Providers;
  • Analyse risk factors for the new and existing facilities, identify physical security vulnerabilities and formulate remediations plans;
  • Execute the Security operational plan for SPT/Projects to ensure Security preparedness by utilizing technology as a force multiplier and improving the tactical capacity;
  • Assess risk behaviour from Sasol and Service Providers employees;
  • Foster a team spirit and team work to ensure the necessary synergies and alignment with the projects regarding Sasol security policies, standards and procedures;
  • Manage relationship between SPT and Projects to ensure awareness and transfer of information on security risks and crime prevention initiatives;
  • Establish, maintain relationship and collaborate with local Law enforcement and state security agencies;
  • Ensure professional working relationships with relevant stakeholders on site and surrounding communities;
  • Maintain a Security awareness program to inform and educate employees regarding security risks and mitigation;
  • Ensure proper ongoing development for service provider Security personnel;
  • Report and investigate security incidents, such as thefts, violation of regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Verify and analyse Service Provider security operational documentation, to ensure compliance with Sasol security standards, policies or applicable government security requirements, policies, and directives;
  • Analyse and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement through auditing, review or assessment;
  • Monitor local and regional security context and changes, provide context analysis, potential scenario through regular reporting;
  • Conduct regular field visit for security assessments and support to projects;
  • Develop own networking in order to gather and cross check information coming from the field and from management networks;
  • Manage and monitor SPT vehicles fleet and provide regular reports;
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections of Sasol security equipment and systems to avoid costly repairs;
  • Submit repair requests and conduct follow up inspections to ensure repairs are satisfactorily completed;
  • Review physical security measures and ensure that proper security systems are in place and functional in new and any existing facilities;
  • Supervise manned and technical security contracts, ensuring compliance with standards of service;
  • Provide inputs, make recommendations, plan, organize and maintain work practices that are reflective of integrated and optimal office management and administrative systems (e.g. document and filing management, etc.).
