TITLE: Maintenance Engineer (OnSite)REPORTS TO: Assistant Chief EngineerHOURLY RATE: $61.93SUMMARY:ASM Global, The Moscone Center in San Francisco is seeking a Maintenance Engineer who is responsible for all aspects of maintenance in the facility. This role requires a talented and experienced Maintenance Engineer whose role is to assist the Chief Engineer and Assistant Chief Engineers in maintaining and improving the operating equipment at Moscone Center, and assuring a smooth working environment and operation between clients and in-house departments.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operating all heating and ventilating equipment, engines, turbines, motors, combustion engine, pumps, air compressors, ice and refrigerating machines, air conditioning units, fans, siphons, also automatic and power-oiling pumps and engines
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all boilers, heaters, pumps, valves appurtenances and lines used in the distribution of steam and heated or processed water.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of pumps handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids together with all valves, appurtenances and lines used in the system.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of air compressors, together with distribution lines and all valves and devices for air control.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including all valves control devices.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of Water filters, softeners, piping and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution, including all sinks and toilet bowls, including all supply lines, drains, water lines, control devices, and sprinkler systems.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all types of electrical motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors and fans.
  • Maintenance of elevators, man lifts, escalators, and hoist ways, except where this type of equipment is serviced and maintained by specialize contractors,
  • All electrical work and repair.
  • Tools considered as necessary to the fulfillment of the duties of the engineer shall include all those, which may be require in the performance of his duties, including such types of special equipment necessary to operate, maintain, and repair the equipment listed.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all fuel oil systems including pumps, valves, line and controls.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors and indicating devices.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of all mail conveyor systems, excluding tenant owned systems.
  • Operation, maintenance, and repair of sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, including basins, water closets, urinals, and piping.
  • Maintenance and repair of trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment, excluding tenant owned equipment.
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of all types of locks, keys and locksmith related duties.
  • Maintenance, repair and installation of carpentry work and those duties related to carpentry.
  • Operation, repair and maintenance of energy systems, life safety systems, environmental controls, safe lock, telecommunications and other such computerized emergency systems, except where governmental regulations, maintenance contracts, past practice and the skills of existing employees provide and/or dictate that such work shall not be performed by bargaining unit employees.
  • Any and all work not specifically enumerated above, but which is customarily performed by maintenance engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge:
  • Ability to listen and follow instructions
  • Completion of approved apprenticeship program.
  • Appropriate certification/licensing within field a plus.
  • Must have solid knowledge of all phases of building, equipment, operations and maintenance.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum five years experience in the operation of a large public assembly, hotel, hospital or other commercial facility.
  • Member in good standing of Stationary Engineers Local 39.
  • Skills/Aptitude:
  • Ability to problem solve, plan and is well organized.
  • Able to read blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requires ability to interact with all kinds of people and is able to get along with co-workers, customers and vendors to the facility.
  • Works well as a team player.

  • Work requires extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting, frequently requires reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling and crouching.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • This position requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Will be subject to call 24 hours in case of emergency.
