- Perform installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of ABB Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for both land based and off-shore applications.
- Investigate problems and independently initiate effective measures for their solution.
- Coordinate activities with related groups to most efficiently achieve objectives to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Participate proactively in contributing feedback regarding product quality issues to reduce warranty costs.
- Carry out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, and documentation as required.
- Submit completed, detailed, and comprehensive service reports in a timely manner and follows up when needed.
- Coaches and provides technical guidance to fellow colleagues, departments, and customers.
- Communicate effectively and present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical program and 2 years of experience in installing, testing, repairing or troubleshooting AC/DC drive systems and their associated controls.
- Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, technical manuals, and technical specifications.
- Ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to work long hours, 12+, on short notice for up to 21 days in a row. Willing to provide technical support during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule.
- Wind Requirements: Can pass the physical and medical tests for GWO certification including, but not limited to, working at heights, sea survival, first aid and CPR, and HUET helicopter transfer (future potential). Must be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs. Must be able to sit, walk or stand for a long duration of time. Must be able to climb wind towers on a daily basis. During this task, employee must be able to open/close hatch doors and identify potential safety hazards. Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Preferred Requirements: Bachelors in electrical engineering, experience with MV Drives, knowledge of: power electronics, motors, transformers, switch gears, and computer network communication protocol and theory of operation.
- Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the United States.
