Position Summary:Reporting to the Director of Plant Operations, the Plant Operations Manager is responsible for the daily operations and clerical functions of the department, including but not limited to, scheduling of work, stakeholder coordination, supervision of resources, and quality assurance/control.Consults with and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems. Receives telephone and written request form hospital departments for maintenance service and processes such request by overseeing the TMS work order system at Palmetto General Hospital.Overseeing will include assigning, setting deadlines and completions of work orders for the Plant Operations Department. Must show a working knowledge and ability to perform medium task assignments using equipment such as: PC computer, copy machine, typewriter, calculator, etc.Records data as required on equipment logs and enters PM records in computer program. Performs job duties in accordance with standards set forth by AHCA and Joint Commission, if applicable. Be adaptable to change and open to take on new projects whenever presented. Be able to manage projects and meet deadlines.Review proposals from vendors to ensure pricing is in line with the scope of work. Understand and capable of doing a IRCA report. Be able to inform all vendors of the construction rules at Palmetto General Hospital.Able to stay organized while multi-tasking and work well in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to report to work in the event of a disaster event of after hour's emergencies.Position Qualification: (Training, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities):
  • A degree in engineering, architecture, safety, emergency and disaster management, construction management or related fields preferred.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience in supervision and management of professional and technical disciplines. Must possess leadership ability and have good human relations skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Well-developed problem-solving skills and ability to conceptual alternatives.
  • Must have ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Must have knowledge of plumbing, electrical and air conditioning related to healthcare facilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulation. Have knowledge and can produce a scope of work and URCA for each construction and renovation projects.
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, design professionals, project teams, clients, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Responsible for managing multiple projects and project teams in support of projects.
  • Ability to work with contractors and resolving construction issues. Must be able to report to work in the event of a disaster or after hour's emergencies.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • An Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, safety, emergency and disaster management, construction management or related fields preferred.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience in supervision and management of professional and technical disciplines.
Communication Skills:
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization.
