OverviewGENERAL PURPOSEThe general purpose of the Quality Assurance Supervisor is to work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of quality standards within the FFIC organization. It will be the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Supervisor to ensure that processes, products, and services meet or exceed established quality benchmarks, often through continuous improvement and adherence to the ISO9001:2015 standard. This role involves working with various departments and dealing with day to day operation of the quality assurance department. This includes, but not limited to, clearance of raw material and finished goods, investigation supporting batch reviews, shelf life of raw materials and finished goods, and non-conforming product (both raw material and finished goods). FFIC Inc. has a manufacturing site in New Castle, DE where aqueous dyes, RxD, and inks are made to support the InkJet digital printing market.NATURE OF POSITIONThis position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager, to provide QA support to product issues, supplier issues, customer complaints, product development, and continuous improvement at the site. The individual will be responsible for the following Quality Assurance activities including but not limited to the following:
  • Daily clearance of raw material and finished goods
  • Quality assurance of products, including batch review and product issues, non-conforming materials, and shelf life
  • Problem solving and special projects
  • Supporting day to day management of change activities as needed
  • Supporting customer complaint investigations
  • Leading the supplier audit program to support procurement
  • Leading continuous improvement activity for QA and participating in projects being progressed by other functions
This position will be required to interface directly with manufacturing personnel, toll manufacturers, suppliers, Process Technology, all other relevant FFIC functions, customers, etc., to identify and resolve issues arising from product quality analysis, method R&R and development, customer complaints, customer support work, etc.
  • The incumbent must be organized and have strong quality systems skills, exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, clear and concise writing skills, have management experience, and appropriate experience to allow interface with technical/manufacturing functions and problem solving.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS EXPECTED· Responsible for day to day operation of QA activities. These activities include but are not limited to:· Final product/raw material clearance (back-up for QA specialist, Quality Inspector)· Support batch review investigations (data collection, etc.)· Management of change· Non-conforming products· Supervise and set priorities for team based on production requirements· Support batch reviews for any products that have failures during production· Work with QA manager for batch review investigations when needed· Includes all product lines produced at the facility· Auditing responsibilities include:· Leading the supplier auditing program· Interfacing with the procurement function to identify suppliers for auditing· Help organize, support, and document supplier audits with appropriate follow-up for corrective actions· Provide input into management review on supplier audits as needed· Work with procurement on the supplier scorecard program· Working with QA manger to respond to raw material issues that give cause for a supplier audit· Monitor SCARs to determine appropriate timing for supplier audits· Other QA and business systems support as needed including but not limited to:· Manage special projects as requested by the quality manager· Cost savings projects· Support new product introduction as manufacture begins in production· Continuous Improvement Projects· EHS Initiatives· Management of Change responsibilities· Review MOC and administer as appropriate· Work with Quality Manager to ensure MOC can be implemented· Work with QA manager to develop action plans for MOCs· Monitor MOCs and ensure are effectively completedKnow-HowA B.S. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 3-4 years of quality experience or relevant Ink Jet experience is preferred. Supervisor experience is desirable. Strong knowledge and understanding of ISO9001-2015 and some knowledge of GMP. Extensive prior experience in quality assurance and systems in a manufacturing or manufacturing support role, strong knowledge of statistics and use of statistical software, project management skills, and excellent problem-solving skills are required. A general understanding of basic chemical processes and analytical techniques is preferred. A background in ink formulation, color chemistry, colorant purification technology, pigments, and imaging analysis/application testing, especially as related to the ink jet industry, would be highly desirable. This position must be highly organized, efficient, and ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences in a variety of formats.
