The Teaching Assistant will provide support to the faculty and students within the School of Nursing. The Teaching Assistant is responsible for providing tutoring services to nursing students and helping faculty complete daily tasks in the educational environment (classroom, lab, or simulation). The Teaching Assistant is expected to provide a supportive attitude to promote student success in the School of Nursing and also with NCLEX testing.Major Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the faculty to complete daily tasks in the educational environment.
- Assist faculty in planning and preparing instruction and maintaining records and assignments.
- Take attendance and monitor participation.
- Deliver guest lectures in the area of TA’s clinical expertise.
- Assist with lab or simulation set-up.
- Provide individual and group tutoring for PN and ASN students and graduates awaiting NCLEX testing by walk-in or scheduled appointments.
- Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, abilities and experience
- Provide subject-specific content to help students
- Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress
- Recognize the different learning styles and student preferences
- Support students in the development of appropriate research and study strategies
- Recognize primary role to help students become more confident, more successful and self-directed learners
- Proctor examinations.
- Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to reinforce learning concepts.
- Assist with on-campus events such as tours, recruiting, and other on-campus events.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Associate degree in Nursing
- Unencumbered Indiana RN License
- Show sensitivity to the needs of under-resourced and disadvantaged populations
- Demonstrate ability to interact effectively with diverse population
