To provide high-level skills in the maintenance and repair of automotive and grounds maintenance equipment. Responsible for performing mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, tractors, grounds equipment, shuttle buses, vans, and emergency generators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic procedures using a computer analyzer to detect motor trouble and analyze motor performance on all equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs vehicles and equipment to include; main and connecting rod bearings, clutch plates, differentials and transmissions, brakes, front-end work, motor overhauls, and air conditioning systems.
  • Other duties include the testing of campus emergency generators.
  • Welding and brazing repair duties as needed.
  • Drive a UTA vehicle
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma with three (3) years of experience in basic automotive maintenance and repair or the equivalent experience.
  • Valid Texas drivers license required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with operate machines and equipment used in the automotive mechanical trade to include the following:
  • computer analyzer, Carmon exhaust system, acetylene torch, arc welder and Freon recovery system.
  • Basic computer skills, including but not limited to MS Outlook, Work and Excel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to operate machines and equipment used in the automotive mechanic trade.
  • Knowledge of small engine repair golf carts, mules, grounds equipment.
  • Ability to stay alert and careful attention to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Ability to perform all tasks with extreme accuracy.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
