Summary of Essential Functions:Perform maintenance functions on all laundry equipment also focusing on troubleshooting for all equipment and repairs.Coordinate work with outside contractors and order parts/maintenance supplies in accordance with United Regional policy.Washer operating and delivery to outside accounts in the absence of regular scheduled washer operator.Coordinate with Laundry Manager to maximize laundry efficiency and assist Laundry Manager to minimize utility cost.Demonstrate ability to control cost in preventive maintenance and materials purchased for repairs.Test water levels, softness, bleach strength and PH level and learn microprocessor programming on all equipment.Educational Requirements:Completion of High School or equivalent is required, some college or technical education/training is preferred.Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Excellent Customer Service Skills.Minimum of two years hospital or commercial laundry experience with knowledge of the following essentials related to laundry production: steam systems, electrical systems, plumbing, and pneumatics, able to understand all schematics, test motors, know correct chemical usage for each washer, water and chemical testing.Knowledge of OSHA/Joint Commission standards and compliance monitoring helpful. Employee must be able to recognize, understand and use safety procedures. Employee must complete on the job training and orientation in procedures, policies and safety.Duties and Responsibilities:Observe and report any safety hazards to Laundry Manager, Laundry Mechanic or Linen Specialist, and follows procedures for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Demonstrate ability to produce laundry to specifications in efficient and cost effective manner using various pieces of equipment and accurately records production and delivery data on specified worksheets and through measurements of wash / dry loads.Work to keep the laundry running efficiently by maintaining the equipment and minimizing production down time.Accurately records maintenance activity on specified work log; all repairs and preventive maintenance will be logged and presented to laundry manager weekly.Respond positively and adapts well to changes in organizational structure and unscheduled changes which may interrupt normal routine within the department. Is always willing to help others within the department or outside of the department on a voluntary basis.Attend all work related In-service training and meetings assigned, apply training within the work environment. Complies with policies related to time and attendance.Perform all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
