With access to camping, hiking, and swimming adventures across the picturesque Methow Valley, your time off will be as fulfilling as your workdays.Join us in shaping the future of outdoor recreation at Pearrygin Lake State Park!DutiesUnder the supervision of a Park Ranger, this position is essential to Washington State Park's mission of operating, enhancing, interpreting and protecting our park's recreational, cultural, historical and natural sites. This position assists with the aforementioned mission and related tasks, and serves as a lead, training park aide and volunteer staff in daily operations and routine maintenance of the park. The Senior Park Aide may also lead Park Aide staff and volunteers in task delegation and other communication.Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Leads Park Aides.
  • Cleans and performs maintenance on campsites, picnic sites, trails and roads.
  • Maintains Park lawns using a mower, weed eaters, trimmers and various other tools.
  • Cleans and performs maintenance on all park buildings including restrooms; removing and disposing of ashes from stoves and BBQs; pick-up and dispose of litter; and removing debris from grounds with hand tools and larger equipment.
  • Assists with daily camping registration program and working in the park welcome center checking-in and assisting visitors including training other staff in check-in procedures.
  • Provide information including educating the public regarding park rules and regulations, local events, activities, walks and talks, and historic information.
  • Assist with interpretive programs and park events.
  • Collect, sort and count park revenues.
  • Assist rangers in maintaining all facilities in a condition that is operationally functional and safe for the public and staff, including park grounds, structures, utility systems, vehicles, equipment, tools, trails, fences, restrooms, and turf and irrigation systems.
  • Assist with noxious weed control and parking lot maintenance.
  • Assist with Construction & Maintenance staff with completion of projects.
  • Assist with ordering and stocking of restroom cleaning supplies and welcome center merchandise, monthly equipment and safety logs, reconciliation of funds collected, timesheets, fuel and oil logs, and other administrative tasks, as needed.
  • Participates in agency training requirements and follows uniform standards.
QualificationsREQUIRED:
  • Twelve (12) months of experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping, or performing semi-skilled/general carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.
OR
  • Six (6) months cumulative experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).
OR
  • Twelve (12) months experience in a special employment program (Washington Conservation Corps) with a parks agency. A combination of experience (WCC and Park Aide) may be used provided candidate has at least three months experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).
AND
  • A valid unrestricted driver's license (other than corrective lenses).
  • At least 18 years old.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to work independently or lead others while using good judgement and problem-solving skills in decision making.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Awareness and willingness to follow safety policies and protocols. * Take direction and has an eagerness and adaptability to learn new skills.

  • Ability to lead.
UNIFORM INFORMATION:
All career seasonal Senior Park Aides are required to wear a uniform. A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Senior Park Aide and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks' employee. This position will receive 4 shirts within the first year (2 shirts per calendar year after year 1), 1 jacket (per 5 calendar years), 1 baseball cap, and a clothing stipend of $150.00 per calendar year.
