Occasional travel to Paris is to be expectedUnderstanding the freezing stability of suspensions of soft objects (particles, drops, bubbles, cells) is essential in many fields, from materials science to food processing and biology. All these systems share a fundamental physics describing the interaction mechanisms between the objects and the growing ice crystals. Many of the mechanisms controlling these interactions and the stability of these objects remain to be elucidated. We have developed a unique cryoconfocal device for rapid 3D imaging of the dynamics and mechanisms of solidification (freezing) in the presence of objects of different natures (particles, drops, bubbles, cells).- Aim of the thesis: The aim of the thesis is to implement microfluidic approaches to prepare such objects in a reproducible manner and to study their freezing stability using our confocal cryomicroscopy approach. This study is part of a larger ANR project (FROST), with 3 partner laboratories (ILM, SIMM, LCMCP) and several PhD students. The PhD is already funded by the ANR.RequirementsResearch Field Physics Education Level PhD or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Physics Years of Research Experience NoneAdditional InformationWebsite for additional job detailsWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Institut Lumière Matière Country France City VILLEURBANNE GeofieldWhere to apply WebsiteContact CityVILLEURBANNE WebsiteSTATUS: EXPIRED
