Job Description:Compliance Manager is responsible for lending direct support to field operations and assisting both our asset and non-asset based companies. This position will support the Risk and Compliance department with regulatory compliance, training, auditing and ensuring the company is compliant with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and company policies. The Compliance Manager will work to develop and implement programs, policies, training initiatives and standard operating procedures that support company goals, strategies and requirements.Compliance Manager responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Protect the company from financial loss and occurrences that can impact the company's profit
  • Develop policies, procedures, methods, standards, and training materials
  • Administer testing and evaluations in areas of regulatory compliance
  • Assist with ensuring the company is compliant with all governmental regulations and bodies, including but not exclusive to CBP, DHS, DOT, FAA, FDA, FMC, IATA, TSA, OSHA
  • Possess general understanding of General Liability, Auto Liability and Cargo insurance in order to minimize company risk and support internal and external customer requests
  • Create Standard Work Instructions for all departments under the Risk and Compliance umbrella
  • Work with facility management to ensure OSHA compliance
  • Conduct live security and safety training throughout all RLG facilities
  • Work with the Warehouse division to ensure safety protocols are being followed
  • Provide standardized procedures for all safety-sensitive positions
  • Create, modify and utilize metrics to improve efficiencies
  • Provide Safety Training, including AHA, AED and CPR and Active Violence training
  • Work with Authorized Representatives to ensure compliance with RLG corporate standards and TSA Regulations
  • Develop and implement training program related to various areas of compliance, such as Hazardous Materials, TSA, CBP and warehouse safety
  • Be a point of contact and correspondence for field employees, regulatory agencies and any other parties involved in regulatory compliance
  • Be aware of and current on federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to the position
  • Audit compliance files, regulatory databases, TMS and shipments to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards
  • Oversee Warehouse Safety, including Forklift Safety Training
  • Work with operational management to oversee high risk shipments on a daily basis
  • Develop continuing education programs for Safety, Insurance and Hazmat
  • Implement corrective action plans and quarterly follow-up
  • Provide oversight and training on restricted commodities and proper packaging
  • Provide necessary paperwork for TSA facility inspections and cargo audits
  • Process security documents, resolve facility problems and provide support related to corporate security
  • Provide remote training as needed to field managers and employees
Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Public Administration, Legal or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 3+ years' experience in compliance and risk management or legal
  • General understanding of government regulations, policies or regulations associated with a multi-modal transportation organization
  • Previous transportation/logistics experience preferred
  • Previous experience with the transportation management systems McLeod and CargoWise preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret highly complex regulations and procedures
  • Ability to manage complex situations promptly and professionally
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • High level of attention to detail and follow-up skills
  • Exceptionally driven to protect the company from risk and other litigating issues
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to analyze and recommend company decisions
  • Must be comfortable teaching and promoting remote learning
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time
