We will however consider an Ophthalmic Technician currently working in a busy practice with at least 2 years of verifiable Ophthalmic Technician testing experience.This is your opportunity to join one of the areas most recognized leaders in ophthalmology and optometry. For more information, please visit our webpage at .Ophthalmic Technicians are responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by documenting patient information into the Electronic Health Record as well as taking ocular measurements and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.ResponsibilitiesOphthalmic Technician Responsibilities:
  • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems
  • Measuring visual acuities, intraocular pressures, refraction, pachymetry and more
  • Performing external slit lamp examination and administering eye drops
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures
  • Assist with stocking supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned
  • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination
  • Code for services
QualificationsThe Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications:
  • At least one year of experience in a work up position within an ophthalmology practice is required for consideration. COA/COT is highly preferred
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business
  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting
