- · Apply experience and knowledge to the planning and design of a variety water resources projects including (but not limited to) hydraulic modelling, floodplain mapping, stormwater modeling, flood control projects, site development and flood risk management.
- · Develop and analyze one-dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modelling using one or more of the following software applications like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 2D, InfoWorks, MIKE21, SWMM and PCSWMM.
- · Design of blue and green infrastructure including infiltration, retention and treatment systems such raingardens, bioswales, ponds, water squares, etc.
- · Collaborate with geomorphologists to develop engineered solutions including river crossings, erosion and scour protection.
- · Collaborate with biologists and landscape architects to design nature-based infrastructure like living shorelines, restored wetlands, amphibious public parks, etc.
- · Collaborate with AECOM hydrogeological and mining teams to develop surface/ground water balance.
- · Hydrological assessment inclusive of climate change factoring.
- · Efficiently work with GIS software in support of floodplain modelling and mapping processes.
- · As project needs necessitate, the preparation of high standard project reports, calculations and the development of representative scheme drawings and visual aids.
- · Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets for water resources projects or for water resources components of larger projects (i.e. multi-disciplinary).
- · Communicate and work with other project team members and clients, providing a high standard of technical excellence to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
- · Ability to develop presentation skills, clearly articulate thoughts and to think in a critically matter in relation to project development. In particular, to present, discuss, promote and defend design solutions to AECOM project teams and clients.
- · Demonstrate a collaborative nature. A natural willingness to work (from your home province) across the Americas region with other AECOM offices as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Physical Geography or Science related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering environment working on water resources projects
- P.Eng status in British Columbia or eligible within 6 months
- Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering concepts through coursework and/or work experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic behaviour and channel/flood risk management structures and how to replicate these within modelling software.
- Experience with industry standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, SWMM, MIKE21, R Coding, Flow-3D, etc.)
- Demonstration of commercial awareness and the ability to support the team to deliver projects on time and budget.
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
- This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Burnaby, British Columbia. The selected candidate must be available to work in Burnaby, British Columbia on a scheduled basis.
- Some occasional travel required for this position to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
