- Provide and assist with developing opportunities for Summit to diversify our client base and project types.
- Provide sound engineering designs and solutions per applicable design standards, supplement our technical design experience, and work collaboratively alongside our engineers and geologists to produce exceptional project deliverables.
- Provide technical/quality peer reviews of other's work when not the lead designer on a project.
- Assist with project pursuits, teaming opportunities and statements of qualifications (SOQ) for project opportunities.
- Collaborate with team to develop scopes of work and man-hour estimates, project planning, progress reports, invoicing and responses to SOQs, RFPs and LOIs as needed.
- Perform all aspects of project management for multiple projects ranging in scope, complexity, and contract values.
- Collaborate effectively within our team and support projects and department initiatives.
- Be an ambassador for exciting growth opportunities for Summit and our staff, and work within our tight-knit leadership team to mentor and facilitate the staff development in the office.
- Set an example of excellence within the group and look for opportunities to mentor staff and foster team synergies.
- 10-20+ years of geotechnical design experience on Department of Transportation projects and/or private sector geotechnical projects. (i.e. - commercial, municipal, etc.)
- Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolina.
- Proven track record with managing client satisfaction, driving team collaboration on projects and pursuits, and business development.
- Ability to interface with clients and manage multiple projects simultaneously within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Proficient technical writer/detailed reviewer of design calculations, structures and foundations inventories and roadway inventories and recommendations.
- Demonstrated technical expertise with NCDOT practices, policies, and procedures, including the Geotechnical Engineering Unit's 'Guidelines and Procedure Manual', as well as other applicable design standards. (i.e. - LRFD)
- NCDOT Prequalification codes related to Geotechnical Engineering and Geotechnical Design.
- Demonstrated industry-leading project management including key performance indicators, client management, and risk management.
- Ability and desire to be a leader on the design side of our Geotechnical group and building a support team that supports growth and mentorship within the group.
