Responsible for assisting the Head of Operations with the management of banking operations in the back office of the Bank, including processes relating to deposit and investment products and disbursement and payment services.Key Performance Areas:
  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of banking operations.
  • Assists with the resolution of operational problems that may arise from other Core Business Units, around banking systems while maintaining day-to-day operational control and meeting service standards
  • Ensures proper system rights and appropriate segregation of duties between the Operations Unit and other business units.
  • Responsible for coordination of loan disbursements and payments, deposits, and arrears collections and all the processes and systems relating to these. Liaises with the Internal Audit Unit and monitors outstanding audit queries regarding banking operations.
  • Participates in the development of policies and operating procedures for the Operations Unit in conjunction with the Policy and Procedures Unit.
  • Manages service provider / vendor performance to ensure that they meet service standards in service level agreements.
  • Assists the Head of Operations with the preparation of the budget of the Operations Department.
  • Ensures that systems and procedures are in place for custody and security of loan collateral documents such as bond documents, title deeds and loan contracts, before loan disbursements are made.
  • Ensures that systems and procedures are in place for customer data / information capturing and the capturing of loan drawdown and disbursements to mitigate the risk of loss. In conjunction with the Information Technology Manager and Marketing and Sales Manager, ensures that Sales and loans origination staff have the proper system menus and rights.
  • Oversees the inspection of properties through various stages of development before each disbursement to ensure availability of security.
  • Ensures that the Operations Unit auditing processes are effectively conducted and that deficiencies are corrected.
  • Assumes Responsibility for Effective Supervision of the Operations Unit Staff for Optimal Performance.
  • Assists in ensuring that payment processes are properly aligned with the entire operations of the Organization.
Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance Accounting, Business Information Systems or related field.
Experience:
  • Five to eight years of related progressive experience, three of which at Middle to Senior Management
  • Knowledge of banking information technology systems and the IT vendor industry
  • Thorough understanding of bank regulations.
  • Understanding of Operational Risk Management.
  • Thorough understanding of the Bank’s products, services, and competitors’ product lines.
