We're passionate about Auckland's development as a vibrant, growing city that more and more of us call home and we are working hard to give Aucklanders safe and sustainable transport services and options that support our growth and enhance our attractive spaces across the region.Te Whiwhinga mahi - The OpportunityAuckland Transport's Spatial Planning Policy Advice team provides high-quality land-use and transport planning advice to the Auckland Council Group and Central Government partners to help shape spatial planning and policy decisions. Our goal is to enable better land use and transport integration, and ensure that planning and policy decisions protect and provide for the current and future transport network.We are looking for a Senior Planner to join our team, to ensure that Auckland Transport's interests are appropriately represented in planning and policy processes by working closely with our partners.Key tasks will include: * Reviewing private plan changes, notices of requirement and other plans and policies, providing land-use and transport planning advice to decision-makers to enable informed outcomes, and preparing submissions and evidence where required.
  • Assessing integrated transport assessments to ensure that effects on the transport network generated by land-use proposals are considered in planning decisions.
  • Reviewing changes to Central and Local Government legislation, plans, and policies, identifying issues relevant to Auckland Transport, and providing advice to decision-makers.
  • Working collaboratively, enhancing the influence and capacity of the team, and delivering high-quality outputs.
Ko koe tēnei | About you
  • Minimum five years' experience in land use or transport planning
  • Able to work effectively and proactively in advancing Auckland Transport's position during statutory planning and policy processes
  • Understanding and knowledge of transport planning and funding, urban planning policies, local government processes, and legislative requirements
  • Strategic thinking, including the ability to apply logic to new initiatives, and to develop policy that balances competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills coupled with excellent written and oral communication skills - particularly to inform decision makers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, driving results, and building connections with internal and external stakeholders
