- Coach and develop a team of transportation and fleet operations professionals within the Region to deliver on cost, quality, service, and safety results
- Champion safety objectives and lead by example, ensuring that the highest safety standards are upheld through strict adherence to all Company fleet safety policies, all DOT/FMCSA, and local regulations.
- Foster productivity, motivation, and morale within the department. Inspire your team to reach their full potential and cultivate effective teamwork. Promote positive and cooperative attitudes, ensuring both company and customer satisfaction.
- Managing workloads, prioritizing tasks, and utilizing your and the teams time effectively to meet the needs of customers, staff training, and administrative duties.
- Conduct root cause investigation and analysis, recommend remediation methodologies, develop long term solutions, and escalate as needed to address issues
- Translate and cascade objectives to measurable goals and are ultimately accountable for the successful execution of all approved strategies.
- Ensure operation and business objectives are achieved by providing direction, oversight, and support to all team members
- Support the region in achieving overall P&L targets by identifying opportunities for improvement as well as collaborating across the region to leverage resources, identify trends, and proactively providing guidance
- Responsible for personnel management including recruitment, supervision, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals and termination of employment. Develops and trains staff to assure high skill levels. Partners with Human Resources on employee development, engagement, coaching, and succession planning initiatives.
- Prioritize staff workloads to meet delivery needs/objectives in all areas.
- Coordinate and partner with logistics providers regarding strategic cost savings, supplier performance measures and opportunities for improvement
- Working in a matrixed organization is a key aspect of this position and the individual must be able to navigate it successfully while balancing deliverables.
- Maintains positive relationships with industry contacts and stays current on changes in the industry, including updates to state and federal rules and regulations, market trends, and other events impacting fleet operations and the broader transportation industry.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must have previous Fleet Management experience with a concentration in dedicated operations.
- Education/experience: Bachelor's degree or 5 years of transportation management experience.
- Supervisory and Management experience with remote or off-site team members is a plus. Additionally, the candidate should have supervisory and management experience in both union and nonunion environments
- Strong background with FMSCA / DOT and CMV safety regulations and safety programs
- Experience managing CDL-A drivers.
- Prior P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization structure.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong oral and written skills.
- Ability to think critically, multi-task, work well with teams, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
