- Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings and attending pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Proficiently preparing estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, and equipment costs and applying them to the complete scope of work
- Reviewing/researching historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compiling summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
- Incorporating historical data into unit and man-hour figures
- Actively participating in developing bid package estimate documents
- Proficiently maintaining files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc.
- Creating, sending, and managing subcontractor requests for proposal
- Reviewing design options and recommending the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
- Following awarded contracts as assigned – may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned
- At least 5 years of at-risk experience with a civil general contractor.
- Knowledge of HCSS.
- Proficient in Heavy Bid software, such as Agtek or other similar programs.
- Advanced knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
