- Providing equipment (hardware) installation, de-installation and modification support
- Install GFE/CFE field changes (ECNs, etc.) in tactical equipment
- Provide multilevel technical support for integration of tactical equipment configurations (e.g. interface w/software support group, test operations personnel and engineering design support group, etc.)
- Provide preventative & corrective maintenance support, troubleshoot, and repair tactical equipment. This includes legacy Q-70, UYK-43s and UYQ-21 systems, as well as newer COTS based AEGIS Computing plants (Baseline 7 and later)
- Assist members of the engineering staff in maintaining detailed configuration documentation applicable to equipment & cable configurations, firmware settings, equipment utilization metrics, equipment status, etc.
- Utilize facility hotline process to track and assign technical support for the prompt investigation and resolution of tactical hardware problems/failures
- Record and track issues, equipment failures trends, etc., that may affect operational efficiency
- Perform extensive reporting using Microsoft tools. Provide daily reports for several functional area groups
- Mentoring of junior members of the NSCC Tactical Support Group
- Willingness to work rotational shifts as required including days, evenings, midnights, holidays and weekends as required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience
- Successful candidate must be experienced with troubleshooting/repair practices and principles coupled with documented experience using standard test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, o-scopes, network analyzers and fiber optic testers) found in a large scale systems operational/engineering environment
- Must possess a working knowledge of LAN technology coupled with the ability to understand UNIX based program commands and LAN network theory to assist in the analysis, isolation and repair of hardware failures
- Working knowledge of UNIX, and Linux operating systems
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level
- 5 to 10+ years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Aegis tactical systems in a Shipboard or Laboratory configuration or in an engineering development environment
- US Navy AEGIS Fire Control or Electronics Technician background preferred
- Knowledge of Aegis system equipment elements and operational equipment. Documented experience with, and/or training in, UNIX/LINUX based operating systems as required for system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing tactical military hardware
