Senior Accountant

The Accountant II is primarily responsible for assisting with budgets/reforecasts, performing account analysis and reconciliations, recommending adjusting entries, reviewing for exceptions in coding, inputting information to accounting system and preparing/communicating numerous reports to management / external contacts.
Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”

  • Participate in the monthly revenue recognition process by compiling, analyzing and reconciling data from Regional Percent Completes and the accounting system.
  • Review all budgets/reforecasts in detail. Assist or conduct meetings with department leaders to review financial information.
  • Prepare and perform thorough reviews of financial reports, on a month, quarter and annual basis.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify and correct exceptions on the financial statements.
  • Perform reconciliations to accounting system and analyze accounts by researching unusual activity and balances to assist in verifying the reasonableness of the balance.
  • Provide support documentation for recommended adjustments to accounting system balances.
  • Input and update information accurately and timely to accounting system as required based on new information.
  • Meet reporting needs by providing management / external contacts information as needed.
  • Work with internal and external auditors and provide requested documentation in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional responsibilities, as directed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 4+ years accounting experience required.
  • Previous experience working at a major public accounting company preferred.
  • General knowledge of construction accounting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent organizational skills with detail orientation and strong analytical ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels within the organization, independently and in teams.
  • Basic keyboarding skills and ten-key by touch.
  • Ability to produce Board quality reports.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools are a plus.
