- Review and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and contracts for commercial buildings to ensure adherence to International Building Code (IBC), Life Safety Code (LSC), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and other relevant regulations.
- Attend pre-construction meetings to represent IE's interest and share project goals, while ensuring the project meets all code specific commercial building requirements (fire systems, life safety measures, accessibility features), as well as IE building requirements for form and function.
- Provides information to management to assist in the approval process including drawings, change orders, and other cost or schedule impacts encountered during the project; communicates any project schedule impacts, how timeline will be impacted and potential options to mitigate slip to management and ownership.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of inspections for commercial construction projects, including extensive field notes, photographs, and test results for critical building systems.
- Prepare daily and periodic reports summarizing progress updates specific to construction milestones (foundation, framing, erection, finishing), and recommendations for corrective actions where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, architects, engineers, and project owners regarding inspection results for commercial building systems, potential code violations, and necessary steps towards achieving project completion.
- Ensure all documentation - commercial, technical, quality, logistics/shipping of IE supplied materials or equipment - is appropriately provided and on track.
- Engage with stakeholders to develop solutions on all technical questions. Relays information in an understandable and respectful manner to team members.
- Facilitate project meetings and proactively tracks all project-related action items.
- Able to facilitate collaboration, problem-solving, and win/win resolutions.
- Has expertise in understanding and managing standard commercial construction practices, methods, materials, and equipment.
- Recognizes variations or departures from original design and project specifications during all phases of construction and tracks these variations to communicate to management or resolve with subcontractors as necessary.
- Able to independently recommend design and specification changes or corrections which are project appropriate and efficient.
- Able to perform materials tests or use outsourcing methods to verify and ensure the quality of materials being used for the project meet specifications.
- Proven ability to achieve high-quality results through continual attention to detail and anticipation of potential problems during the early planning and design review stage
- Maintains awareness of quoted budget at all times, actively seeks cost savings where appropriate.
- Manages and communicates changes in project scope, cost, and change orders. Able to independently suggest alternative components, solutions, or options to keep the project on track.
- Confirms, updates, and regularly reports on project schedule while flagging and addressing any potential schedule issues.
- Identifies potential risks to schedule, quality, and cost. Actively mitigates risks through clear communication and identifying alternate solutions to recover cost or time.
- Proactively manages change order process, documentation, and communication.
- Consults with leadership and ownership in regard to disagreements/change orders. Jointly negotiates proposals for handling issues in IE's best interest.

- A degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience working on large commercial and residential construction projects preferred.
- At least seven years of experience in project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience needed.
- Detail oriented, with effective communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and a customer service mindset.
- Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be able to work in a typical commercial construction site which may include weather extremes and various noise levels.
- Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time and possess a valid driver's license.
