We want you to apply!Job Summary and QualificationsThe AEMT/EMT primary responsibility is responding to Intra/Inter-Facility Transports. The AEMT/EMT functions within the Emergency Department as a team with the Physicians, Registered Nurses (RN) and Physicians Assistants (PA). The AEMT/EMT will to adhere to the Hospitals Standards of Patient Care to deliver safe, quality patient care in the Inter/Intra-Facility and Emergency Department settings. The AEMT/EMT performs all treatments and procedures within the scope of AEMT practice and as outlined in the Standards Manual, Protocols, Policies and Procedures and Practice GuidelinesThis employee is expected to deliver patient care in a manner that is appropriate to patients age, physical ability, and intellectual development. The AEMT must demonstrate proficiency in assessment and treatment, and the ability to adapt care to meet the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • You will have the ability to quickly and skillfully inform the RN staff of a patient’s condition and the symptoms they are presenting to help them make an informed initial assessment.
  • You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure
  • You will obtain and record hourly vitals as directed by the nursing staff
  • You will have a proven ability to perform duties independently in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • You will demonstrate the importance of all functions of your role, including but not limited to; obtaining information related to history and known allergies, assisting with sterile procedures, applying dressings, restocking supplies and linen as needed and cleaning rooms and equipment after each patient.
What you will do in this role:
  • Participates in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
  • Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
  • Assists with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assists with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assists with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
  • Obtains or assists in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Ensures accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed.
  • Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
  • Engages in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • High School Graduate / GED
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor, or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), or Emergency Medical Technician Basic must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
