Experimental Operations Leader - Aerospace Research

- Safe operation of test facility infrastructure enabling test operations.
- Responsible for planning and operation of essential infrastructure supporting the testing of fluid-thermal and combustion components.
- Lead the planning for operation and maintenance of major mechanical equipment, ancillary hardware, and industrial piping systems.
- Develop preventative maintenance plans for major equipment and subsystems and incorporate continual process improvement.
- Resolve operational issues with existing research hardware and return to service.
- Drive interactions with researchers, facilities, trades, and vendors to complete hardware maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Engage with project and facilities stakeholders to source and plan for installation of new hardware.
- Participate in audits and safety reviews associated with test operations.
- Identify and leverage opportunities for equipment & operational improvements.
- Facilitate the design and planning for new equipment and facilities to support Aerospace research testing.
- Interface with research team on scheduling and space allocation planning.
- Support research staff with tracking equipment installation and facilities improvement projects, including scheduling and budgeting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, with 6 years of experience, or Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical systems, operations, and maintenance.
- Experience operating and maintaining large mechanical equipment (compressor, pumps, heaters, etc.) and industrial piping systems.
- Experience leading the installation or overhaul of large mechanical equipment and industrial piping systems
- Experience with project planning including schedule, budget, and project controls
- Experience/training in safety compliance and industrial codes (NFPA, OSHA, ASME, etc.).
- Experience with process controls, PLCs, and instrumentation
- Understanding of Process and Instrument Diagrams.
- Experience reading technical documentation and drawings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to perform multiple, concurrent tasks.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
- Must be 18 years or older.
