Research Technician I

- Review study protocol, ensure study tasks and data for pre-clinical research studies are conducted in accordance with established protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and other pertinent regulatory requirements.
- Dose animals by a variety of routes (including but not limited to ocular, oral capsule, oral gavage, dermal, SC, IM, IV, IP or intra-articular)
- Collect biological samples, as needed and trained (including but not limited to blood, urine or feces).
- Collect and record body weights and/or feed consumption values.
- Perform daily cleaning duties as needed.
- Perform daily observations of the animals to assure well-being and health.
- Perform in-life study activities, including but not limited to post-operative monitoring, pain and lameness scoring, sample collection, and observations for adverse effects following administration of the test article.
- Complete appropriate entries into the electronic data collection system or paper records as needed.
- Participate in training programs for the technical staff.
- Maintain confidential information.
- High school diploma or GED;
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science field preferred;
- Experience working with animals preferred.
- Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with basic computer application such as MS Office products, including email.
- Exhibit a quality approach to work and detail oriented.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment and work independently when needed.
- Ability to stand/walk on concrete for at least 2 hours at time.
- Lift up to 50lbs on occasion.
- Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, squat and lift.
- Manual dexterity to catch and hold animals.
- Manual dexterity to use a calculator and/or computer keyboard.
