  • Support the Responsible Investment team in meeting its strategic objectives
  • Support the Stewardship team’s goals of scaling and integrating stewardship while getting strong and purposeful outcomes
In this role you will:
  • As a “theme lead”, develop and deliver the engagement programme for one or more of our core stewardship themes and/or sectors, and provide expert insight and thought leadership for the themes/sectors/regions you are responsible for
  • Develop company specific engagement plans and lead discussions with companies on a range of sustainability and corporate governance issues
  • Closely work with investment teams to solicit their input on company engagement strategies. Support investment teams to carry out engagements, and develop and implement their own fund- or product-level engagement strategies
  • Lead decision-making on voting at shareholder meetings for a subset of companies and/or issues, in line with our global voting guidelines
  • Participate in collaborative industry engagement initiatives
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of stewardship activities to key stakeholders, including clients
  • Act as the Stewardship team’s representative and point of contact for our French office
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of HSBC AM’s stewardship approach and support the wider goals of the responsible investment team
RequirementsYou should apply if you have:
  • A track record of engaging and influencing companies on sustainability and/or corporate governance issues, and experience of proxy voting
  • Good knowledge of global stewardship best practices, particularly in Europe.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and build trust with senior leaders
  • A solid grasp of key financial and investment principles, underpinned by robust analytical and technical skills
  • English proficiency is essential; business fluency in major languages used in Continental Europe an advantage
  • Holding a financial qualification or higher degree in finance, economics and/or sustainability is advantageous but not a pre-requisite
