These are our five-year goals:Goal #1: Develop, in classrooms and at home, an understanding of the importance of balancing nurture and structure to help build resiliency and self-regulation in our participants.Goal #2: Improved attendance for lifelong success.Goal #3: Create and support a trauma-informed culture in our program and our community.Goal #4: Hire and retain individuals who are committed to the true HSYC mission and philosophy and who understand the need to be trauma-informed and relationship-based in an early childhood program.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Provides and oversees all aspects of planning, production, preparation, and service of nutritious meals and snacks for HeadStart and Early Head Start students, parents, and teachers in accordance with established standards of nutrition, health, andsanitation. Collaborates with Health and Nutrition Coordinator to perform administrative tasks in support of the food preparationprocess, including documentation and maintenance of records.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
2. One year experience cooking nutritious foods for large groups, preferred.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: * Purchase supplies and food needed for food service.
  • Prepare and serve meals following Public Health, Head Start, and USDA guidelines.
  • Utilize cycle menus and participate in menu development and revisions.
  • Train all staff to model appropriate USDA food serving guidelines.
  • Keep kitchen, equipment, dishes, and utensils sanitary and clean.
  • Include children and parent volunteers in the service of meals.
  • Share information about nutrition and sanitation practices with volunteers and substitutes.
  • Coordinate food and supplies for field trips.
  • Complete accurate monthly USDA records-meal counts, food orders, etc.
  • Attend center meetings and trainings as required.
  • Train and support food service staff and substitutes.
  • Participate in general nutrition related activities including classroom and parent meetings.
