We are also the exclusive distributor of Italy’s finest Rio Mare & Lavazza products in Canada.Position Summary:Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Plant Superintendent leads the Plant Production Team in achieving key performance indicators for safety, environment, quality, customer service and cost. This role is also responsible for effective and efficient operation of production lines to ensure the cost effective, timely manufacture of quality products in accordance with established business plans/objectives. Oversees production planning, creates, coordinates and implements approved production shift schedules and activities directed toward production continuity and balance. Coordinates and integrates with other department functions to ensure support in attaining output, productivity and quality.Key Accountabilities:
  • Demonstrates leadership to production supervisors and hourly employees to ensure consistent quality of work;
  • Oversees production operations assuring quality and adherence to production specifications to meet customer expectations and business objectives;
  • Accountable to achieve the assigned business metrics including yield, labour efficiency, sanitation and overhead expenses;
  • Ensures the fulfillment of customer orders within the specifications;
  • Maintains effective communication of expectations and goals throughout the plant environment;
  • Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization;
  • Ensure compliance to all OHS and environ- mental regulatory and corporate standards. Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance;
  • Monitors effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant.
Requirements:
  • A degree in business administration or engineering discipline;
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a similar role working in the manufacturing or meat processing industry demonstrating increasing responsibility and success in various roles, or equivalent combination of experience and training;
  • Union experience is mandatory;
  • Proven experience in, and ability to manage, coach within the terms and conditions of the collective agreement(s) and corporate human resources policies;
  • Experience working on continuous improvement including lean manufacturing, six-sigma, production capacity, expansion etc.;
  • Strong leadership skills, problem solving/root cause, equipment and reliability;
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including work processing and spreadsheets.
