The School Health Alliance Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician ensures behavioral health services are coordinated to enhance the continuum of mental health and social emotional learning for students. These services may involve direct clinical services, and the related coordination of care, and consultation with school staff, families, and community agencies in collaboration with specialized instructional support personnel. The SHA Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician provides direct clinical services to students, collaborates with and provides consultation and professional development to school staff, and connects with other support agencies within Forsyth County to implement a full continuum of behavioral health/mental health services within the school district.Position requires extensive knowledge of child and adolescent development, clinical evaluation and diagnostic skills, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches. Position also requires familiarity with community resources available to individuals and families. The SHA Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician must communicate well verbally and in writing. The employee must demonstrate self-direction, high initiative, and strong organizational skills. Strong clinical documentation skills are required and expected. The position requires ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting. The provider must also be able to work with interruptions, and be comfortable interacting with individual clients, families, and groups.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Master’s Degree in Social work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling. 3 years’ experience working in related clinical settings with children, adolescents, and families is preferred.LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:Clinical licensure in the state of North Carolina to practice in the discipline of the Master’s Degree.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Provide outpatient, evidence-based mental health evaluation and individual and family counseling services for students.
  • Complete mental health risk screenings for students using established SHA protocols.
  • Interpret evaluation findings and therapy progress to student and family members, as appropriate
  • Develop treatment plans and assist in goal formulation with students and parent(s)/guardian(s)
  • Provide crisis interventions to students, and serve as members of the Area Crisis Response Team.
  • Consult as needed/indicated with teachers and school staff about students’ classroom management and behavioral/emotional services
  • Document mental health information in medical records according to SHA policies and Medicaid Outpatient Behavioral Health Services Clinical Coverage Policy No. 8-C.
  • Participate in outreach to students for SHA services and enrollment completion at billing sites
  • Network with school personnel and community resources to coordinate referrals and services
  • Report suspected child abuse, neglect, and dependency to community agencies
  • Consult on behavioral health services and provide training for schools (for students and staff).
  • Assist in the coordination and support of transitions of students from hospital or homebound
  • Collaborate with school teams and Specialized Instructional Support Personnel to provide supports to students in need of behavioral health services.
  • Collaborate with the EC department for students entering the EC program with behavioral needs.
  • Provide counseling support through Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and general education plans.
  • Adhere to the professional code of ethics.
  • Support/adhere to the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the WS/FCS and the SHA/Student Health Centers
