- Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure.
- Performs surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment.
- Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, and medications/solutions for each surgical
- case.
- Assists in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintains a protective position throughout the case.
- Works proactively with physicians to submit preference card changes to align specialties.
- Suggests instrument set changes to EMI and works with SPD identifying instruments sets that need to be worked on.
- Actively engages in case costing by talking with surgeons regarding product usage, connects with EMIs to make cost saving suggestions, assesses product usage and advises on waste minimization and elimination.
- May act as a preceptor to other clinical team members as directed.
- Required High School Diploma or equivalent
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program (military, etc.) Not all schools require an associate degree. Or 1 year of equivalent experience.
- 1 year of relevant experience Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred
- CRT-Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
